Abstract

Post-operative sectio caesarea refers to the period after a woman has undergone a cesarean section surgery. A common problem experienced by post-cesarean mothers is pain. One effective effort to reduce pain in post-cesarean mothers is the application of foot massage. This technique can stimulate the release of endorphins, which are known as natural substances that help minimize pain and discomfort. This study aims to identify the application of the foot massage nursing intervention in an effort to reduce pain intensity in post-cesarean mothers at RSU Karel Sadsuitubun Langgur. The research design used a descriptive method with an intervention-based case study approach, involving a sample of 20 post-cesarean mothers who reported pain at the surgical site. The intervention implemented was foot massage, carried out once a day for 20 minutes—10 minutes for each foot. Following the application of foot massage, post-cesarean mothers showed a reduction in pain levels: initially, 25% of the mothers experienced mild pain and 75% experienced moderate pain. After the intervention, 85% experienced mild pain, while only 15% reported moderate pain. The evaluation indicated that the implementation of foot massage effectively helped reduce pain in post-cesarean mothers. It is recommended that families play an active role in supporting the patient’s recovery by assisting with foot massage at home.
