Supplementary Food Provision And Balanced Nutrition Education For Stunting Prevention In Tulehu
Abstract
The problem of stunting is not only a national but also a global one, especially in poor and developing countries. Current stunting prevention programs are designed based on two main types of interventions: specific and sensitive. Combining these interventions is essential to produce comprehensive and lasting impacts. Specific interventions can include routine immunization, vitamin A provision for toddlers, iron supplements for pregnant women, and close monitoring in the first 1000 days of life. In February 2024, it was discovered that out of 40 toddlers in Tulehu Village, 20 of them experienced stunting. Another study stated that there were 91 stunted toddlers out of 648 toddlers in the village. Data from the Tulehu Health Center showed that there were around 150 children with stunting. The target of this activity is the emergence of awareness of mothers of toddlers in Tulehu Village in understanding balanced nutrition for stunting prevention, the existence of knowledge related to nutrition that can be applied in everyday life, and the distribution of local supplementary food that is right on target. At the Cempaka Putih 2 integrated health post, this activity was attended by 25 parents of toddlers and one form of community response from this activity was that there was a discussion session after the material. In addition, the main output produced was a report on community service activities.
